Rumors have been swirling for months about who will take the coveted spot as director for the upcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James, but it seems Gus Van Sant is pushing to surpass his competition. Sources say that Gus Van Sant, director most notably of Good Will Hunting and Milk, recruited Magic Mike star Alex Pettyfer, one of many fan favorites for the role of Christian Grey, to shoot a test scene for the movie!

Now which scene did he choose? Hold on to your panties ladies, Van Sant filmed Pettyfer in the unforgettable scene where the main character Anastasia Steele loses her virginity to Christian Grey.

The test reel was not asked for by the studio and does not imply that he will be the director or that Pettyfer will play the role of Christian Grey. It does, however, show that Van Sant firmly believes he is the right man for the job.

The test reels were apparently shot multiple times with different actresses, all of whom are currently unknown.

Fans have anxiously been awaiting the reveal of the Fifty Shades director and cast, but we shall have to wait and see whether this ploy will do the trick for Van Sant. If he can swing this gig, it will be one of his highest profile movies in years.

The release date for the film has not been set.

Sorry but Alex Pettyfer is not “strikingly handsome” enough. 😦 He’s average at best. Matt Bomer is totally 100% gorgeous! Ian Somerhalder is my second choice though he may not have the height.
