Summertime means wrapping up finales of some shows (like Glee), and saying hello to premiere episodes for others (like the revived Arrested Development). Whether you’re gearing up for your favorite show or winding down, aren’t we all waiting to see what’s next for our favorite TV couples? So as we transition between spring and summer series, here’s a list of the best couple to keep in mind.
Andy and April – The Adorable Couple (Parks and Recreation)
Andy is a part-time bad singer/songwriter, part-time imaginary FBI agent Bert Macklin, and full-time husband of April. April is known for her deadpan sarcasm and quick wit around the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee. Andy is a goofy, human-puppy of a man. April is too cool for everyone around her. What makes these two a power couple? They’re somehow able to be playfully adorable and completely supportive of each other all the time.
Rumpelstiltskin and Belle – The Persistent Couple (Once Upon a Time)
This second couple gets the least amount of screen time together of the top five. However, their dedication to each other is out of this world. This is my favorite take on the original Beauty and the Beast story. The magic in this relationship comes from the absolute persistence of love between them. Despite the tampering of an evil Queen and Rumple always feeling like he’s not good enough– they love each other. This couple makes it to the top five because they don’t give up!
Derek and Meredith – The It’s-Complicated Couple (Grey’s Anatomy)
I wasn’t a big fan of these two until season five episode nineteen, “Elevator Love Letter.” When Meredith walks into the elevator and sees all the scans of cases they worked on together, and he proposes, I screamed. If this was a list about top television proposals, theirs would be number one! This couple is hard to look away from because they are constantly in the middle of relationship drama. They make top five since they always work it out and give hope for all the “it’s complicated” couples in real life.
Jim and Pam – The Realistic Couple (The Office)
Although I’m not a super-fan of The Office like seemingly everyone else I know, I do love this couple. I mostly watch the show so that I’m not lost when my friends make Office references all the time. Jim and Pam, specifically pre-marriage, give everyone little butterflies just watching them. I don’t know anyone with an actual office grown relationship that turned out well. However, you can’t help but watch all nine seasons of this, and hope that the next day at your 9-5; you’ll meet your Jim or Pam. I would say this is the most realistic couple of the five.
Daniel and Emily – The Pretty Couple (Revenge)
Yes, technically, Emily is with Aiden. Even though Emily is still telling herself that she’s only using Daniel to stay close to the Graysons, you cannot be that close to someone and not feel! Watching Emily and Daniel together is like watching the perfect glossy life of the really cool rich kids. Emily does her best to spare Daniel in her scheming. Daniel does his best to prove to Emily that he’s man enough to run Grayson Global. Although this relationship leaves one party oblivious, it’s still fun to watch the picture-perfect couple.
