It’s time to grab your cowboy boots and get ready for a country hoedown!

Last night, all of the biggest country music names came together to enjoy a night out at the 2014 CMT awards, hosted by Kristen Bell.

Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum, and Little Big Town all put on high-energy performances. Even with all of those performances, I was able to pick my top three.

This group of performers opened the show with a medley of “This is How We Roll” and “Talk Dirty.” Not only do I love these songs, but I don’t mind watching three country music stars try to keep up with Jason Derulo’s dance moves. They all had a lot of fun with the performance and it was a great way to open the show and get the audience laughing.

Keith Urban

His performance of “Cop Car” appeared to be in the Bluebird Café, located several miles outside of the Bridgestone Arena where the awards were held. Near the end of the song, the walls were ripped away and Urban was actually in the Arena surrounded by his adoring country fans. Urban kept his performance simple and sweet, which is all the song really needed to stand out and be great.

Lady Antebellum

This county group performed their song “Bartender” outside the Bridgestone Arena. “Bartender” may not be one of my favorite songs performed throughout the night, but Lady Antebellum always puts on a good show. They never go over-the-top with their performances because they know their voices and chemistry with one another are good enough to get the audience pumped up.

Although I enjoyed these performances the best, everyone did a great job and I enjoyed spending three hours of my time watching my favorite kind of music.

I never thought about being a writer until I applied to college and had to put down a possible major. For some reason, “journalism” was the first thing that popped into my mind. Ever since then, writing has been my passion. One day I hope to be the next Josh Grisham and write best-selling legal thrillers.
