5 Things to Stop Feeling Guilty About

If there is one emotion that can truly start to become a burden, it’s guilt. It’s cumbersome, settles on your shoulders like a heavy shawl and bounces around inside your skull incessantly. Even dogs suffer from it (If you’ve never seen Denver the guilty dog, YouTube that gold now). And while there are certain situations in which we should feel guilty (cheating, plans of sabotage, stealing candy from a baby), a lot of people suffer from an overly guilty conscience and beat themselves up over everything from accidentally giving someone the wrong directions to making a batch of regular chocolate chip cookies when your sister really wanted pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (oops). (Image Credit: Joshua Rainey)

With the days growing a tad shorter and a delicious crispness developing in the air, we are barreling straight into the second most popular time of the year to have a wedding. Some people absolutely adore wedding season while others have mixed feelings. For my fellow members of the Single Club, it can be one weird ride. You go from viewing weddings as something to look forward to, to a place to meet people, to a place to be sad, or to something you yourself will never experience because you are SO single. It’s hard to believe it’s already been a full decade since Saw first worked its way into our twisted little hearts in all of its blood-filled, gory glory. Lionsgate will celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary with a theatrical re-release on Friday, October 31, with some theaters choosing to start the screening the night of the 30th, making for the perfect treat this Halloween season. Saw, the brain child of Leigh Whannell and James Wan, has come a long way from its struggling roots to the eight-movie franchise it is today. Rejected by multiple producers in Australia, where the film’s creators hail from, the original screenplay for the cult movie was finally picked up by producers from Evolution Entertainment after seeing a low-budget short film created by Whannell and Wan based on the same idea. The film was shot over only 18 days and the rest is history, the Jigsaw Killer having earned a spot in movie villain infamy. The re-release will run for one week only, so make sure to snag your tickets now in order to relive every grisly second in a theater near you. In the mean time, check out five other classic horror movies we’d like to see make a return to the big screen! Continue reading

5 Outrageous Adventures to Add to Your Bucket List!

While the expression “kick the bucket” has long been in existence, the bucket list is a notion that has only gained popularity in the last decade. We all have exciting dreams for our lives; places we want to see, people we want to meet and adventures we’d like to have. Of course, such dreams and adventures could quickly drain our wallets – but that’s why the bucket list exists. It’s a place for the dreams that may not seem feasible at the moment, but could happen one day. One of the best parts of being human is that we have the ability to dream and there should be no cap on what you dream about. When people tell you something is impractical or impossible, maybe it is. But that doesn’t mean you should drop the notion like a hot coal. Slap it on that bucket list! Bucket list items go from simple to complex, normal to quirky, big to small. Nothing is off limits. We at The Daily Quirk recently reached out to some family and friends to see what outrageous adventures top their lists, and the answers were all over the map! Check out these five additions to make to your own list inspired by the bucket listers in our lives. Continue reading

The two debuted a new trailer, much to everyone’s delight, and provided some new insight into the rather mysterious science fiction film. Continue reading

While all fans delight at the opportunity to see some of the most beloved cast members from their favorite TV shows at the San Diego Comic-Con, it’s more than fair to say that devoted followers of 24 were in for an extremely special treat. When the show concluded its eight season run in May of 2010, many entered the let down that follows the end of a landmark series. But in 2013 it was announced that the show would return in an 12-episode series set to air from May 5 to July 14, 2014. Jack Bauer himself (Kiefer Sutherland) and series producer and director Jon Cassar headed the 24 panel at this year’s convention and we at The Daily Quirk have the scoop! Continue reading
