Some will argue that the best time to read is in the summer. You can lay in the grass, lounge on a hammock, perch on a beach chair with the waves lapping at your feet, or just sit in front of an air-conditioner, the breeze blowing through your hair as you read your favorite new book. I tend to be of a different opinion. The fall and early months of winter are the perfect time to settle in with a new book. The cracking of a fresh spine will echo the crunch of the fallen leaves beneath your feet. The soft glow that your Kindle or nook emits fits right in with the soft haze produced by a string of Christmas lights. I think we can all agree that reading a book while wearing your favorite sweatpants and a cozy sweater is far more enjoyable than a wet bathing suit. Continue reading

Yesterday at San Diego Comic-con, Kevin Frazier hosted a panel with the cast and crew of the hit CBS show Under the Dome, based on a Stephen King novel. As the cast was being introduced it was noted that Rachelle Lefevre and Alexander Koch were dressed appropriately in cosplay outfits for the panel. Lefevre dressed as Battlestar Galactica’s Starbuck and Koch as The Walking Dead’s Daryl. Lefevre also made sure to tease youngster Colin Ford as he was introduced as a teen dream by pretending to be a flummoxed female fan vying for his attention. Novelist Stephen King has been known to bring some pretty hair-raising images to mind with his words, and over the years those literary imaginings have been brought to life through film and television. If you don’t know the story behind Carrie already (originally a book by Stephen King), you’re either too young to be reading this site or just crawled out from under a rock after thirty years, but I’ll give you the quick rundown regardless. Carrie is horrendously bullied high school girl who has a religiously obsessed psycho mom. She discovers she has the power to move things with her mind and very bad stuff happens after a bucket of blood is dumped on her at prom.
