There are few cosmetics companies out there that have a cult following like Urban Decay. Each time they come out with a new eyeshadow palette, the beauty community goes crazy! And it’s no wonder really, with shadows as rich as theirs that they have rightfully gained their reputation. The latest to come out of the edgy brand’s factory? The Vice Palette.
The Vice Palette was released in mid-September on Urban Decay’s website and late September in stores such as Sephora and Ulta. Now, it’s important to realize why this palette in particular has been such a success. Each color is brand spanking NEW. Urban Decay is notorious for re-using some of their most popular colors in each palette release, but this particular palette was built from scratch and is available for a limited time only.
The palette comes with 20 eyeshadows and 1 double ended brush. The brush is a high quality synthetic brush that can be used both for applying and blending the shadows with precision. I’m a huge fan of Urban Decay brushes because they’re cruelty free and super easy to work with. They hold shadow well and blend without making a mess of your colors.
On to the eyeshadow. The great thing about this palette in particular is it has a great mix of colors and textures, ranging from mattes and shimmers to everyday neutrals and crazy brights. I will say my biggest problem with Urban Decay eyeshadows is that they produce a lot of fall-out, meaning when you pick up some shadow on your brush, it tends to flake off all over your face when you’re applying it. Despite this drawback, the shadows are high quality, extremely pigmented, and super long lasting, which are all items I look for in an eyeshadow.
Like I mentioned, there are a lot of great textures and colors in this palette. You can create everything from a smokey eye using Black Market and Armor, a neutral look using Pennylane and Freebird, or a colorful eye using Vice, Noise, or Chaos. And the color pay off of these shadows are fantastic:
Overall, this is a great palette that would serve all your makeup needs. And with the holidays right around the corner, it’s definitely something worth adding to your wish list.
