Get ready, Divergent fans. It looks like Summit Entertainment is closing in on a male lead to play opposite The Descendants star Shailene Woodley in the much anticipated movie adaption of Veronica Roth’s debut novel.
According to a Deadline article, casting has been narrowed down to four actors in the search for the perfect man to portray Four (how appropriate), the mysterious Dauntless member who catches the attention of Tris. All were recently being tested for on screen chemistry with Woodley. And, drum roll please, those actors are Lucas Till, Jack Reynor, Luke Bracey and Brenton Thwaites.
Till, a familiar face thanks to his part in X-Men: First Class, has been one of the fan favorites to play Four since the talks of a Divergent movie began. Other credits include Hannah Montana: The Movie and Battle Los Angeles.
Bracey was most recently seen in Monte Carlo starring Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy, and both he and Thwaites starred in the Australian television soap opera Home and Away. Thwaites will next be seen in Disney’s Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie. Reynor appears to be the freshest face of the four with only a few acting credits to his name.
Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist) is set to direct Divergent, out in theaters March 21, 2014. Snow White and the Huntsman screenwriter Evan Daugherty penned the script. Filming is set to begin in March, 2013.
