I think most of us can agree that donuts are awesome. And what’s more awesome than a donut? How about a healthier donut that tastes just as good as it’s deep fried bad for you counterparts (two donuts would have also been a correct answer, but you catch my drift). I was really intrigued by the idea of baked donuts and this recipe by Barbara Bakes caught my eye a month or so ago while I was having a serious doughy goodness craving.
I have to admit, the health factor was not the first reason I was drawn to the idea of baked donuts. I don’t keep a deep fryer in my house (Not even a mini one. It leads to way too much deep friend oreo temptation), but wanted to try my hand at making homemade jelly donuts. I got seriously sidetrack, I know surprise surprise, when I saw these Baked Lemon Glazed ones, and never got around to making jellies. They turned out amazing taste wise and I would have taken my own pictures for you if my donut shaping skills did not leave much to be desired. Lucky for me, lopsided donuts taste just as good.
