I like tea. That revelation is probably no surprise to anyone who reads this site often, but it bears repeating given this week’s quirky item is the Adagio Signature Tea Blends of Ms. Cara McGee (read our interview with her). There was a time when I thought being a tea connoisseur was tasting the difference between Lipton and Tetley, but in college my friend Sophie opened my eyes to the wonderful varied world of teas and I haven’t looked back since. Over the years, I’ve gradually gotten more adventurous in my tea drinking branching out into loose leaf and discovering what colors and blends I like, and which are just not my cup of tea.

One day while wasting time on Tumblr, I discovered these super fun Adagio tea blends by Cara McGee that incorporate my love of tea with my inner super nerd fan girl. Cara’s created blends inspired by several of my favorite fandoms, including Sherlock, Doctor Who, and Supernatural, and I love how she tries to make the flavor of each tea match the personality of the different characters. My personal favorites are “Ten” inspired by the tenth Doctor, which has a hint of banana (perfect for bringing to a party) and “I am Sherlocked”, which is smoky and chocolaty (and is just a seductive as a fitted purple shirt).

I also love the elaborate label and tin art Cara creates for each blend. I’m tempted to go order a Doctor Who or Sherlock blend sampler just to get the ten super cute tins. Besides the awesome art, the samplers are also a great way to hone your tea tastes and figure out what types of blends you find most palatable.

I’m glad you liked the article! We only pick items of the week that we genuinely love or are dying to get our hands and Cara’s tea blends fall under both of those categories for me. Unfortunately, we had to do a phone interview so I didn’t get to hang out with Cara or attend the awesome tea party 😦 but hopefully I’ll make it to one of the parties in the future!
