According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sierra Pictures has grabbed what could potentially be the next big blockbuster paranormal romance — YA hit Obsidian, written by Jennifer L. Armentrout. And with five anticipated titles in her Lux series (in which Obsidian is the first), there’s every possibility that the movie could kick off another multi-film franchise.
The tale revolves around Katy Swartz, a book-loving blogger who has resigned herself to a life of boredom after her mother moves them to rural West Virginia just before her senior year. But Katy quickly discovers that life might not be so boring after all when she meets Daemon Black, her arrogant, infuriating and extremely hot next door neighbor. When it becomes obvious that Daemon and his sister aren’t exactly from West Virginia either, Katy finds herself smack in the middle of a galactic war.
Fans of Obsidian aren’t the only ones excited by the movie news. Armentrout took to her website to share the news, and a number of wonderfully placed gifs were used. (Supernatural fans of the book series will be pleased.)
Sierra’s Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg will produce the film, but there’s no word on who will be writing the screenplay or directing.
So, who would you like to see as your favorite next door aliens? And are you as excited for the movie as we are? Let us know in the comments below!
