I bet some of you had forgotten that Girls was about to start again. Well guess what? It’s coming to you right after the holidays just in time for your resolution to watch more quality television. A lot of rumors were spreading during the filming of this season about cast changes and possible newly formed egos after last year’s awards. So, after doing a little online digging into the new season these are my five reasons why I am looking forward it.
I had the pleasure of living here over the summer and I can’t wait to see some of my adopted ‘hood so I can scream, “I’ve been there!” while watching each episode. I’m also pretty sure they were filming while I was living there which just makes it doubly enjoyable.
Charlie is gone
Although I find Christopher Abbott incredibly cute and kinda sexy after that episode from last season (you know which one I’m talking about), his relationship with Marnie was annoying. Frankly, his character is too good for her and they turned into that annoying on-again-off-again relationship we all loathe enduring in real life. So I welcome its end in fiction.
2 degrees from Lena Dunham
Slightly more exciting than having the Brooklyn connection, while living there I met someone who knows Lena. I’m not lucky enough to have met her but getting inside info is always satisfying and I can’t wait to see what she does next. I am incredibly jealous of the woman, but in the most complimentary way possible.
Lena Dunham’s short hair
I know that’s a superficial reason but I cut my hair very short a couple years ago and when she cut her own I thought she looked awesome. I can’t wait to see her character with an edgy short cut. I’m sure she’ll do crazy things with it since that’s how Hannah rolls but nonetheless I can’t wait to see it along with her 20-something hipster fashion.
Jessa is back
After a short absence from the show at the end of the last season (pregnancy related, I imagine) Jessa will be back for Season 3. I love Jessa’s insufferable character. In a sense, she’s everything I hate about entitled youngsters but at the same time she is the crazy-in-a-good-way character I can’t get enough of. With her Buddha belly full of irresponsible activities and stories, she will be most definitely entertaining upon return.
I’ll be tuning into HBO on Jan. 12, 2014 to watch this group of girls bumble their way through 20s life in Brooklyn while simultaneously laughing hysterically. I hope you’ll be watching too. You won’t regret it.
