Get ready to curl up on the couch with your significant other and a nice warm blanket, get your hot chocolate ready, and grab one of these movies that are perfect for a holiday date night.

Elf (2003)

This movie is great for anybody looking for a holiday date night movie! Will Ferrell is hilarious as the lovable, quirky and very tall Buddy the Elf. As we follow Buddy through the foreign land of New York City, we are instantly reminded of how great this time of year is. Personally, I know my boyfriend and I laugh uncontrollably every time we watch Elf. This movie is the perfect balance of comedy, romance and fantasy (who wouldn’t want to go to the North Pole with an elf?).

It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

This classic might not be for everybody but is a good date night movie for the holidays nonetheless. What’s unique about this movie from other holiday movies is that it takes a new, relatable perspective on the A Christmas Carol movies. It’s a Wonderful Life brings into perspective what is important in your life (the person sitting right next to you while you watch this movie). It also teaches you to not take what you have in life (or who you have in life) for granted. It’ll make watching this movie with your significant other that much more meaningful.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Jim Carrey brings to life this classic tale that we all read as children. What makes this a good holiday date night movie is that it really does bring you back to your childhood. You and your significant other will giggle your way through this nostalgic film as Jim Carrey brings his silliest character to the Grinch.

The Holiday (2006)

As the title states, this movie is made for the holidays. For those that like the warmer weather, this movie is set in a beautiful, spacious home in L.A. and for those that like the cold weather, this movie is also set in a cozy cottage in England. You’ll fall in love with this movie as it brings both of you holiday cheer and excitement for the holiday season.

Love Actually (2003)

And for the romantics of the group who like twists and turns in their romance movies, this is a great movie for you! Love Actually follows the love lives of a group of people who are interconnected in different ways. Headed by an all-star cast including Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Emma Thomspon and many more, it is a joy to just watch all the great British actors and actresses in this movie. While it is mostly a romance movie with the Christmas aspect taking a back seat, it is good for those snowy winter nights because it’s one of those movies that makes you want to cuddle up on the couch and just enjoy.

Are you nice and cozy? Do you have your holiday drinks and snacks ready? Are you cuddling with your significant other? Then go enjoy your movie and get ready to get in the holiday spirit together!
