#ThatAwkwardMoment is no longer just a popular phrase on Twitter; it’s now jumped off the computer screen and onto the movie screen. That Awkward Moment is set to release this January. The movie is somewhat of a comedic romance, centering on a three-way bromance, chronicling the trio during their pact to remain loyal to each other- although their relationships with women some times get in the way. If this doesn’t sound interesting yet, there are five major reasons why you should go check out the movie.

Zac Efron is back

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Efron in anything. Aside from his roles in movies where he’s lost his little brother or where he played a soldier who was saved by a picture of a stranger, the former High School Musical actor has strayed away from quirky roles that all women could fawn over. Now he is finally back, playing one of the pieces to the three-part friendship. Aside from his great new character, it is safe to say that Zac Efron isn’t too bad to look at for an hour and a half.

The Bromance

For those who are unaware of what a bromance is, it’s a close relationship between two or more ‘bros’ to which they seem to exemplify couple characteristics. The film shares a bromance between Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan. Aside from the fact that this is a pretty good-looking and talented cast (they’ve starred in some of the past year’s most successful films such as Project X and Fruitvale Station), the film also adds a unique twist that has not been frequently done. Arguably, the first good bromance was achieved in The Hangover, but it’s unrealistic approach takes it in a different direction. This film’s bromance just depicts a couple of guys being “guys” in a world full of women – funny nonetheless.

Guy Code

If you’ve ever taken the time to check out MTV’s television series, Guy Code, you’ll get this one. The hilarious and revealing show, which cracks open the secrets of how guys think and react to certain situations has a essentially been made into movie form. That Awkward Moment opens the door to how some guys may deal with breakups, the rules of friendship and the break down of why some guys get completely awkward when approaching a girl. Along with some educational pointers, there are a whole bunch of other secrets or fun facts revealed about the guys that will have everyone laughing and shaking their heads.

Another Reason to Embrace Your Awkwardness

If you haven’t been able to get a handle on your awkwardness and hone it in a way that is all your own, this movie will definitely help in some way or another. Essentially, every one is awkward in some way and this movie shows how awkward people can be, especially when interacting with others. But in the end, every awkward moment can be turned into a really good joke, story, or in this case, film.

Not Just Another Rom Com or Chick Flick

The good thing about this film, is that it doesn’t necessarily fit in a category. Yea, there are elements of romantic comedies, and other elements that may gear it towards a “chick flick,” but there are some parts that may cater to different kinds of audiences. The fact that the film centers three male characters may open the door to a broader audience (possibly). The audience can laugh at the raunchy comedic factors or swoon at the sight of Zac Efron naked.

These are a few of the reasons to go see That Awkward Moment this month. The film is set to hit theaters January 31. Surely after you see it, there might be some more reasons why it’s a great way to kick off the New Year.
