Why We’re Excited about ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 4

Winter is coming! No seriously, Punxsutawney Phil said we’re still in it for the long haul just extended enough to usher in a new season of Game of Thrones. After watching a couple trailers and a featurette, it is clear to me that this season will be full of action unlike last year. We won’t be strung along with paltry tidbits only to be led to a lion’s den (aka, the Red Wedding). So my fellow Thronies, since we’re only a few weeks away from the season 4 premiere – here are a few reasons why we’re so excited and we just can’t hide it:

Jon Snow

Did anyone see Kit Harington’s body in Pompeii? Jon Snow better get more screen time this season, that’s all I have to say. I’m not sure I have anything more substantial to say about it other than utter anticipatory visual delight.

I say this every season but really I can’t get enough. There aren’t enough dragons on TV. Khaleesi’s babies have grown up and will be full force this season to the point of being beyond their mother’s control. I guess we’ll see what this means for the fate of the Lannister’s and King’s Landing.

Arya’s vengeance

Home girl is bound to mess up some folks in Westeros considering all but one of her family member’s is dead. That poor girl witnessed so much death she is bound to have some serious motivation to bring all those down who unjustly slaughtered her loved ones.

Jaime and Tyrion’s brotherly love

I know this might sound odd, but I’m interested to see how the Lannister boys relate to one another. Since Cersei is so supremely evil and acts like Tyrion is crap on her shoe, it shall be intriguing to see how Jaime is able to hold up relationships with both siblings. I am sure in the end he’ll have to chose sides, but which one will he chose?

Brienne bites off a man’s ear and spits in his face!

I wouldn’t know this if it weren’t for the featurette offered by HBO and boy, I can’t wait to see this scene. Brienne of Tarth is one of my favorite characters because frankly she reminds me of me. I am pretty sure that if I was a character on Game of Thrones all my friends and family would vote me as Brienne, not just because our names are so similar but because I’m such a fighter. Anyway, I think she’ll also pose a threat to Cersei and Jaime’s relationship (incest, ew) which will make things even more fascinating.

Are you excited yet?! If not, check out HBO’s website for trailers and teasers for the upcoming season. Also, be sure to mark your calendar on Sunday April 6 for the premiere, maybe you should throw a Bannerman party for the occasion.

Hey, great article on your anticipation of the season.

I do want to point out that Arya has three family members left, Bran, Rickon, and Jon Snow. (Everyone forgets about little Rickon…)

Right on, identifiying with Brienne! She’s so excellent. I choked up last season when she addressed Jaime as Ser Jaime (I think he choked up too.)
