Everything I Ever Needed to Know I Learned from…’Titanic’!

It never fails. Every time I watch the movie Titanic I still think there’s a possibility they won’t hit the iceberg. To my dismay, (SPOILER ALERT!) they still hit the iceberg.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about and you have never turned on the television to see a rerun of the hit 1997 film Titanic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet… Stream it on Netflix. ASAP.

To give you a really brief summary, the movie portrays a fictional love story between two lovebirds from completely opposite social classes who end up falling in love while aboard the RMS Titanic (which happened to be a real life tragic event).

Besides learning all the words to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” I’ve learned quite a few things from this movie.

1

First off, your mother, though she does everything she can to protect her family, is not always right. Sometimes you have to defy her.

2

If it wasn’t for Jack, I probably wouldn’t know how to hock a really good loogie. Don’t forget to get some leverage and use your arms.

3

He also gave some words of wisdom like, “When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose.”

4

This was all just foreshadowing the day Leo would play the great Jay Gatsby. I mean, can’t you see it?

5

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Even the person you think you know can surprise you in so many ways.

6

If you really love your significant other, you’ll trust them to use an axe while closing their eyes to save your life.

7

Never piss off your husband-to-be. If you do, he’ll think of some plan to blackmail you.

8

Don’t believe a person when they say they don’t know where the “Heart of the Ocean” is. Truth is, they probably had it the whole time. They just wanted you to hear a two hour story.

9

And lastly, up to this day people are still yelling at Rose for this exact scene. You CAN fit two people on a door while floating above water. It’s been proven!

What have you learned from Titanic? Am I missing anything?
