When we watch a movie, we are watching the final product of months (or even years) of hard work. We get to see the relationships of celebrities as they are on screen. The laughs, the tears, the dynamics are all a part of a scripted story. And usually, we don’t see much of what happened on the set of these feature films. Of course, to every rule, there is an exception. When things go south between celebrities on set, the mystery that surrounds production slightly unravels in the media. Some of the world’s favorite movies didn’t have a smooth production, due to on-set feuds. Here is five of the worst!

Megan Fox VS Michael Bay

On of the most infamous on-set celebrity feuds is still being talked about today. Megan Fox and Michael Bay got into it on the set of Transformers, with Fox saying that Bay was “like Hitler” on set and Bay firing her for the next installment. The argument remained very public, with both Bay and Fox continuing to comment on what took place during production. They have thus put aside their differences, however, and worked together on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Tyrese Gibson VS James Franco

In an interview with Elle, Tyrese Gibson was asked if he was on set and he was asked to blow up a celebrity’s house while he was at the grocery store, who he would choose. His answer? James Franco. Gibson and Franco worked together on Annapolis in 2007. On the set, Franco reportedly hit Gibson multiple times during rehearsal, even when asked to settle down. Though Franco says he’s tried to reconcile on multiple occasions, Gibson says he would never work with him again.

Christian Bale VS Shane Hurlbut

I think everyone has heard of the “Bale Out,” AKA when Christian Bale goes absolutely crazy on set and starts yelling like a maniac. Ring a bell? Well, he wasn’t yelling at an extra for taking selfies on set, or paparazzi for sneaking onto the premises. He was yelling at the Director of Photography for the film, Terminator: Salvation, Shane Hurlbut. The audio of the offense went viral on the Internet, and people everywhere were talking about the intensity of his rant. Bale later went on to apologize for his behavior, and was even backed up by the film’s Assistant Director, Bruce Franklin.

David O’Russell VS George Clooney

When the usually poised and collected George Clooney says he would “sock Russell in the f****ng mouth,” you know something went down. On the set of Three Kings, Clooney reportedly intervened when director David O’Russell was mistreating crewmembers. Clooney called working on the movie with Russell the “worst experience of his life.” It resulted in a feud that has seemed to uphold throughout the years, until finally ending in 2012, according to Clooney.

Ryan Gosling VS Rachel McAdams

The two people that brought us one of the greatest love stories of our time, and even dated in real life, weren’t always cuddled up on a Sunday morning and pushing ice cream in each other’s face. Before Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling came together on the set of The Notebook, Gosling wanted to read his part with another actress. They were forced into a room together for a screaming match before they (mostly) put aside their differences and allowed the slight tension to add to their on-screen chemistry.

It seems it’s not always sunshine and rainbows on a set in Hollywood. Which of these feuds surprised you? Let us know in the comments below!
