Lana Del Rey. The name oozes sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll (or something like it.) One thing is for sure — she’s one of the baddest chicks out there, and she does not hold back or pretend to be something she’s not. I’ve been a big fan of Lana for a while now, and after reading her recent interview in Rolling Stone, I couldn’t help but think, ‘Lana, you are a god.’ As follows: A list of reasons why Lana Del Rey has taught me everything I need to know.

Lana1

Her hair. It’s perfect. She makes it clear, you can, indeed, leave the house with messy locks. Lana proves to the world sex-hair will never go out of style. Whether she’s killing it in one of her new music videos, or getting caught by the paparazzi, Lana is always rocking the “I just got out of bed and still look sexy” hair.

She reminds us to never, ever apologize. Listen to any of her lyrics and you’ll realize she’s not afraid to share inner workings of her mind with the world. Sometimes it’s twisted, other times it’s beautiful, but one thing is for sure…she will never apologize for anything she thinks or feels.

Her idea of feminism is liberating. In a recent Fader article, Lana explained her idea of feminism, saying, “A true feminist is a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants.” I couldn’t agree with you more, Lana.

Which brings me to my next point — she embraces her sexuality. If you watch any of Del Rey’s music videos it’s quite clear the singer is very in touch with her sexuality. She’s fearless with both her lyrics and style. Whether she’s a biker, lover, or badass chick, Lana is demonstrates the art of confidence.

I encourage you to embrace a little Lana Del Rey in your life. She’s a woman who knows how to get what she wants, and I think that’s something to admire. She reminds women to stop apologizing and to live life by your own rules. Thanks for being you, Lana.

Ask me if I love the film Titanic, and you’ll have me talking for hours (I actually can’t let go of Jack Dawson). I also enjoy traveling, dark chocolate, and romantic novels.
