Look, I know there are tons of television shows out there right now and it’s super hard to keep track of. Trust me. I have a long list of “TV Shows I need to catch up with” and “TV Shows I’ll eventually watch later.” True story. Recently, I was able to finally catch up with SyFy’s hit supernatural show Dominion that premiered earlier this year. I can sit here and tell you the whole premise of the show but that’s no fun. (Plus, it’s kind of confusing to type out) Instead, let me give you reasons on why you should get yourself situated in front of a TV screen (or computer screen) and binge watch this show. Did I mention season one is only eight episodes long?
Dominion is all about angels, but not the ones that you’re used to imagining. Picture angels with black wings instead of white and no halos. Okay. Now that you have that image in your head, think of angels who have no mercy and kill like there’s no tomorrow. Didn’t see that one coming, did you?
Alan Dale and Anthony Head
When I saw these two characters grace my screen once again, I was automatically hooked. Dale has played prominent characters in two of my other favorite shows, Ugly Betty and The O.C., which he did amazing in. I knew that anything he was part of I would love instantly. And, don’t even get me started with Head. He’s only my favorite Watcher of all time. Ahem-ahem. I hope my Buffy The Vampire Slayer fans laughed at that one. I swear I screamed when I saw him on-screen and without his accent. Plus he’s no longer the timid librarian that we know and love. He actually plays the character you just somewhat hate and that’s still weird for me to wrap my head around.
There’s action. Lots of it.
I don’t know about you but I like my TV shows to have some action in it and this sure satisfies my needs. Good versus evil is a huge aspect in this show and we often see angels and mankind go face-to-face in order to prevail over the other.
Many may not know McKee that well, but after her role as Claire Riesen you’ll remember her forever. She plays a strong and powerful woman which I love. She’s ruler of the city and she sure knows how to make things go her way. I love this strong, powerful female role that Wilmott decided to add into the show. She fights for what she wants and she doesn’t let men overpower her even though she seems to be always surrounded by them.
Every show has twists in storylines, that’s a given. But Dominion really had me scream, “WHAT?” about a million times throughout Season One. The show basically taught me to not always believe and trust anyone. Everything is a guessing game. It literally makes you question every character and their true intentions.
And a bonus – The dedicated fanbase
Dominion fans are one of the most loyal and persistent fanbases I know. They know what they want and they fight for it. If it wasn’t for the fans rallying for a Season Two, it may have never existed. Goes to show, keep tweeting and commenting. Your voice can and will be heard!
Season Two launches next year so you still have time to catch up with the TV show like I did. If you do decide to binge watch, let us know below what you think about it!
