Since you’re reading this article, please hear me out and understand why Darren Criss is a big deal. Whether or not you know who he is, this will get you to start thinking about him more often. Hopefully.
Criss may be known for multiple roles but one that sticks out to the majority of people is his character Blaine Anderson on FOX’s Glee and we can thank Katy Perry’s hit song “Teenage Dream” for that one. You know the scene I’m talking about. After that one performance, he’s been bumped up as a main cast member of the show and seen as Kurt Hummel’s (played by Chris Colfer) fiancé.
Before all his fame on Glee, Criss was just a pretty normal lad. If you’ve seen him with his long curly hair aka pre-Blaine days, you probably wouldn’t even recognize him. He was one of the founding fathers of the musical theater company, StarKid Productions. During that time, he often played Harry Potter during their production called A Very Potter Musical which has caused quite a buzz over the internet. So, to say music has been in his life for a long time would be pretty accurate.
Adding onto his musical resume would be his role as J. Pierrepont Finch in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying just after actor Daniel Radcliffe played the part. He also released his very own EP in 2010 called Human that I recommend everyone listen to. It’s only four songs, but hey. It’s okay. He has been hinting he’s coming out with more music pretty soon which explains his mini-tour he did in the summer last year.
BUT, the real reason I absolutely swoon over Darren Criss is the fact he is one of those actors who are completely down-to-earth and seems like he would have been that guy in high school that everyone just happened to get along with no matter what clique you were part of. Personally, I can’t even describe in words how much of a sweetheart or how humble he is. Thank goodness for GIFs!
He makes photobombing look cool. Lea Michele couldn’t even hold her red carpet pose in tact.
How can you not swoon over that smile?
I’m pretty sure he’s the life of the party wherever he goes.
He knows just what to say to let his fans know that he’s thankful for them.
He’s a natural chef.
He can’t even tell when someone is obviously making a pass at him.
Lastly, to those of you who started reading this article not knowing Darren Criss, here’s his message to you. He’s totally fine with it.
Keep your eyes peeled for this one in the next year or so. After Glee finishes its run, who knows what he’ll be up to next!
