Last time The Daily Quirk talked about HISTORY’s epic scripted television show Vikings was during San Diego Comic Con International. The wait is over, people! Coming Thursday, February 19, we’ll be getting ten brand new episodes for Season Three. Finally, right?
So much has happened since season two. Ragnar, played by Travis Fimmel, is officially king after the well thought out murder of King Horik occurred during the season finale. Lagertha played by Katheryn Winnick is earl while their son Bjorn, played by Alexander Ludwig, grew up right before Ragnar and Lagertha’s eyes as he developed a new love interest. Meanwhile, Ragnar’s brother played by Clive Standen continued to struggle being in his brother’s shadow but still remained faithful to Ragnar’s needs. In the new season, we’ll see how Ragnar handles his new title while continuing to satisfy his needs to search for more outside of Kattegat. We’re guaranteed to see the beautiful city of Paris, well, before the well known monuments were put in place. Oh, and of course, there’ll be fierce fights between the Vikings and new enemies.
There will be four new characters added to the mix including: Kalf (Ben Robson), Lagertha’s second in command; Harbard (Kevin Durand), a wanderer who appears while Ragnar and his men are off raiding across the sea; Emperor Charles of France (Lothaire Bluteau), a powerful man who believes battling Vikings is a good thing; and Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski), daughter of Emporer Charles. I’m curious to see who has a hidden agenda and ends up stirring up trouble for everyone because come on, what’s Vikings without hidden alliances and troubled relationships?
So far, three teasers have been released and nothing else. I’m sure as we get closer to February more will be released but until then, we can replay these five second promos over-and-over again.
