I’ve been excited for Scream Queens since it was announced! I mean it’s a show about B-horror brought to you by the writer who created a comedy about teens singing in high school and an anthology horror series. These are on opposite ends of the spectrum, yet Scream Queens brings together the best of both worlds.
If you haven’t heard about Scream Queens, I’m concerned you might live under a rock, but regardless, the premise is that someone is out to get revenge on the sorority Kappa Kappa Tau after an incident in 1995 that causes one of its pledges unfortunate demise.
So, why should you be watching Scream Queens? I have a few reasons below, but don’t let me boss you around! Read for yourself and make sure you check out the show!
This is a no brainer. This is a serious star-studded cast! We have Emma Roberts from American Horror Story, Lea Michele from Glee, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin, Skyler Samuels, Diego Boneta – the list goes on! If there is no other reason to give Scream Queens a try, this is a pretty good one.
JAMIE LEE CURTIS
Now, I realize I already mentioned the star-studded cast, but Jamie Lee Curtis is the original scream queen, so she has to be in this show and must be mentioned separately! Plus, she seems like a pretty badass character if you ask me. Curtis famously started her career in horror starring in films like Halloween and The Fog. That kind of makes her an expert in this genre and I can’t wait to see what comes of her character, Dean Cathy Munsch!
Pumpkin Spice Latte Love
Admittedly, it’s more a making fun of Pumpkin Spice Latte, but I think it still deserves a shout out! I personally love the PSL and if you’re at all like Chanel (Roberts), you do too. Don’t lie. Plus, Chanel’s obsession is one of the funnier elements in the show, except for maybe Hester Ulrich (Michele).
Grace and Pete
It’s a real will they or won’t they situation. The first episode did a pretty good job of making it seem like pretty much every character could be the killer and Pete was no exception. Since there has only been one episode though, can he redeem himself?!
The screaming is on point, of course, you wouldn’t expect anything less from a show called Scream Queens, but sometimes it’s a real surprise when something doesn’t live up to the potential – am I right? Well no worries here, these women (and men) can scream!
Behind the obviously amazing casting, this is probably the most “duh” reason. There is a real mystery here! I was kind of worried about a two hour premiere, and at one point actually said, “How are they going to get a full season out of this?” Then, the ending happened. Now, I won’t give anything away, but let’s just say I may have looked at my fiancé and said, “That just blew my mind. I don’t even know what to think now!”
After the first half hour I was a little nervous for the rest of the show. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Scream Queens after all – even after being so excited for it, but the good news is that, in my opinion, Ryan Murphy did not disappoint! Did you watch the pilot?! What did you think?
If you haven’t started it yet, but feel like you probably should, you can catch it online on Fox.com and I can say with certainty that Amazon has the first episode free. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
