It’s that time of year where supernatural meets reality as the 2015 New York Comic-Con visits the Javits center for a four day extravaganza. Fans from all over the world will come together as their favorite characters from television and comics grace the audience with their presence. As an anime fan myself, I must admit that I’m currently kicking myself for not purchasing a ticket when I had the chance. As I continue to beat myself up over this, here’s what those who bought a ticket ahead of time should look forward to during this illustrious event.
A celebration of Back to the Future:
The late ‘80s and early ‘90s were a great year for many (not because I was born in 1993 or anything like that). The first installment of the Back to the Future franchise came out in 1985, and to this day references from the movie are still relevant in pop culture. Spearheaded by Steven Spielberg, fans will get an in depth look into the making of the ‘80s classic, as well as guest appearances by Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who played Marty McFly and Doc Brown respectively.
The Walking Dead: An Inside Look with Robert Kirkman
Okay, I don’t know about you guys but my DVR is already set for next week’s season premiere of The Walking Dead. Judging by the 17.3 million benchmark they reached in ratings last season, I believe this is an event many would want to attend. Why not join its creator Robert Kirkman and guests as they take you into the world of the post zombie apocalypse.
A Justice League Reunion Event:
The headline alone should’ve got you excited (or maybe I’m just fanboying a little too hard right now). Regardless, this reunion only screams nostalgia! Fans will get the chance to meet the originators of the seven man squad, (minus the Flash) and watch as they come together to recall moments that were most fondest to them during a Q&A session.
For the third consecutive year, NYCC will be doing its annual speed dating for fanboys and girls alike. After its inception two years ago with over 100,000 attendees, many believe this is a great way for people to meet others who share the same interest in comics, tv shows, movies and other “nerdy” facets of life. Who knows, you could potentially meet your soulmate in this event. I sense a cosplay wedding in the works!
The 10th annual New York Comic-Con will be Oct. 8-11 at the Javits center in New York.
