Depending on your personality, ironing is either a relaxing task or annoying chore. I’m the kind of person who thinks that if you’re going to do something you might as well do it right, so even though I tend to feel like it’s an annoying chore, I’ve taken the time to learn some of the best ironing tips and tricks. Not only has it helped me learn to iron better, but it also helps me get the job done faster, which I’m all for! Continue reading
Um, yes, hi. Hello.
Not to be too forward or anything, but I basically love you. And I think it might be accurate for me to say that my love is borderline obsession, but unlike many people who develop obsessions over time, this kind of happened overnight. Continue reading
Okay, so I am no marathon runner or triathlete, but I don’t think you have to be a hardcore athlete to understand the trials and tribulations of annoying socks. You know the kind – socks that slip down the back of your heel or bunch at your toes; socks that don’t breathe and leave your feet feeling clammy inside your shoes; or socks that stick out the tops of your shoes at odd angles. These may seem like minor annoyances but I think we can all agree fixing little sock issues can make a big difference in comfort.
That’s where Feetures! High Performance Socks come in handy. These ultra-lightweight socks mold to the shape of your foot to put a stop to any slipping or bunching and prevent painful blisters. The breathable fabric keeps your feet feeling cool and dry, and a specially-designed heel saves you from the dreaded heel bunching. These socks also address one of my personal sock peeves, the obnoxious toe seam. With Feetures!, you don’t have to worry about rubbing your sensitive toes on an intrusive seam.
Feetures! High Performance Socks are available in a variety of colors, sizes and cuts, with the no show ankle sock standing out as a popular favorite. I’ll admit the $11.99 USD price tag is a bit steep for a single pair of socks (at least as far as I’m concerned), but it’s a worthy investment if you want to have a pair of socks you know you can rely on to get you comfortably through your toughest workouts – or just your longest day at Disney World!
Since it is back-to-school and everything, I wanted to do a quick rant aimed towards the younger generation about dressing… mature for their age. I’m probably gonna get a lot of different comments about this but hey, that’s what YouTube is for, right? This is just my take on when I see someone younger than me wearing something way too revealing for their age! Does anyone else feel the same way? Or… Continue reading
Plato’s Closet challenged me to create a summer look for $40 I did it in about $30 (because I couldn’t find shoes in my size) So this is my attempt to find an outfit that “fit my style.”
I usually wear maxi skirts or dresses during the summer because they’re more comfortable for me and you can wear them anywhere! I’m not one to wear too much jewelry either so the mint ring was perfect. I gave off some bling on my hand but it wasn’t too overpowering and for it’s size, it’s pretty lightweight.

Not a timely video but this had to be said eventually, right? Better early than.. never (Said no one). The struggle is real with dress codes for girls but IT GETS BETTER (As I say about like five times in this video). Let me know your stories below in the comments! Continue reading
Big city girl stuck in a small town is a tale we have all heard of, but what happens when a big city girl willingly moves to a small town? Hart of Dixie. This clever and quirky show has captured the attention of viewers nationwide since its debut in 2011. Is it the plot that draws us in? Is it the hometown feel of Bluebell, Alabama? Is the attractive male leads and complex love connections? For me, the answer is none of the above, but rather Rachel Bilson as the spitfire character Zoe Hart and the New Yorker closet she rocks all the way down south. Continue reading
The spring I am in a floral frenzy!
Everywhere I turn there is a product that I immediately add to my wish list. Bold colors, gorgeous floral hues and garden-like scents are all the rage this spring and today I am sharing some of my absolute favorites with you. Obviously trends tend to come and go, but florals are a spring staple. It’s so fun to see how designers decide to infiltrate florals into their spring lines while staying being chic and contemporary. You can see floral patterns in shoes, cross body bags and statement jewelry this month.
Here are a few of my favorite: Continue reading
Every closet is home to certain fashion essentials. Assorted colored t-shirts, jeans, white button down, black pants…you know the staples. Yet there is one item that is Queen of Essentials: Little Black Dress, I’m talking to you. The LBD made its first appearance in the 1920’s and has proved to be a trend with astonishing staying power. It does not simply adorn the bodies of fashion icons, but has itself become a fashion icon. Marilyn Monroe was a huge fan of the style and no image of Audrey Hepburn is more famous than of her in her Breakfast at Tiffany’s getup. As the decades pass, women still flock to the classic piece. Almost every awards show you can expect to see a starlet in a black gown that takes your breath away (will we ever get over the one Angelina was wearing at the time of the infamous leg pose?). The beautiful thing about the LBD is it’s for everyone- not just for celebrities or models or fashion designers. It’s a piece that ages gracefully, is extremely accommodating to the latest trends and is an instant way to make every girl feel a little sexy. Continue reading
I recently took a quiz called “Which Doctor Who Companion Are You?” (admit it, Whovians: you’ve all wondered this at some point). The result was the Doctor’s current travel buddy, Clara Oswald. This was pleasing but not surprising, as I’ve noticed from the time that we were first introduced to Clara that I share a fair amount of similarities with her. While she a might be a close match personality-wise, her wardrobe is admittedly way more awesome than mine. Indeed, this (not-so-impossible) girl’s clothes evoke major envy in me.
Clara’s style is a bit eclectic. She manages to strike the perfect balance between girly and edgy, all while remaining appropriately clothed for her latest adventure through space and time. She typically pairs a colorful, Peter Pan-collared A-line dress with a rugged leather jacket and ladylike stockings with combat boots.
To top off her already interesting clothing choices, she is also a huge accessory lover. When she clutches her beloved cup of tea, it’s pretty easy to spot her admirable ring collection. For this particular outfit that I’ve whipped up (like a soufflé, if you will), I picked out a bowtie ring in addition to a collection of stackable rings. I imagine it’s something Clara could enjoy wearing; after all, bowties are cool. She can often be seen wearing a charm bracelet or watch and a dainty necklace. For this look, I chose a gold leaf necklace to pay tribute to her origins and charm watch – not that it would be much help while time traveling.
Put all of these pieces together and you will look like one of the most fashionable companions ever. You’ll look so much like her, in fact, that you may begin to wonder if you’re just one of Clara’s echoes! Now all that’s left to do is pack your bags (with similarly cute outfits, obviously) and listen up for the TARDIS.

Any fan of the hit ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars is bound to notice the different style personalities of each of the “liars,” and probably has a favorite fashion icon out of these four girls. Well, now fans finally have the opportunity to emulate the characters’ styles for themselves! This month, not only has the new season begun, but Aéropostale has launched a Pretty Little Liars fashion line. The company teamed up with Mandi Line, the show’s costume designer, to come up with four individualized looks representing Aria, Hanna, Emily and Spencer. Continue reading
Most people are familiar with the convenience of online shopping by now. It saves time and it’s like getting a present in the mail. Personally, I am hesitant to buy clothes online because what if they don’t fit? There are few disappointments greater than getting a cute something in the mail and it not fitting.
But shopping in a store provides no guarantee of satisfaction either, especially when it comes to bras. Sizing systems can be confusing and if I go to the store I rarely find things in my size that I like. At the same time, if I shop online, I feel a little sense of impending dread that I’ll just be let down. Plus I don’t like waiting for refunds.
Recently though I’ve found two websites that might just turn my world around. Both Jockey and a company called True&Co offer a remedy for finding the perfect bra. If you want help finding the perfect fit and the ease of not leaving home, read on to see what these sites offer. Continue reading
When I was gearing up to write my first edition of Fashion with Character, I knew right away who to put the spotlight on. Who better than the queen of quirk herself, Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl character, Jessica Day?
Jess is smart and loveable, while a little (a lot) awkward. She loves singing and teaching elementary school kids, has a model for a best friend, and doesn’t always think before she speaks or acts. And now, after a bad breakup with a cheating boyfriend, she lives with three male roommates who are just as outrageous in their own ways. Needless to say, she gets into a lot of interesting situations. And she looks adorable in the midst of all of them.
Bright colors, bold patterns, and lots of fun dresses are what to look for when emulating Jess’s look. What I love about Jess is that she’s got such a distinct style and that it represents her bubbly and offbeat character so well. From mismatched PJs to cute sweaters to the signature big, black glasses she often wears, Jessica Day stands out in the crowd with her fashion, just like with her personality.
You can check out Jess and all the new outfits she’ll wear during the tomfoolery she’ll get into on Fox. New Girl returns for its third season on Tuesday, September 17 at 9 pm ET/PT.

I can already feel the weather changing from scorching, humid temperatures to blissful, 70-degree sunny days. Those are the days where it’s perfectly acceptable to curl up in your favorite hammock with a comfy sweater and soft throw blanket to read your new book whilst sipping chamomile tea. Can you picture it now? I can.
Although your wardrobe changes throughout the fall months it is time to start paying attention to the trends that have strolled down the runways. Although there are a few trends that seem to pop up every fall, there is always a slight change here and there to make it ‘new’ again. We have pulled together the top five trends to ‘fall’ in love with this upcoming season:
1. Statement Outerwear
Royal Purple ‘Sollel’ Ted Baker Peplum Jacket
When it comes to cold weather you can never skip a jacket or coat. So why can’t it be as fabulous as the outfit you wear? Better yet, couldn’t your outerwear be a major statement on its own? The runways were infiltrated with structured pieces, tailored pea coats and patterned frock coats. Whether you work in a corporate office or are busy running around all day, a statement jacket can transform a bleak, neutral outfit into a sensational look.
2. Feeling Bruised: Black & Blue
Michael Kors ‘Selma’ Large Top Zip Satchel
An unlikely color combination yet an extremely attractive one. Whether it is cobalt and black or navy and black the color scheme is uncommon. Rarely do the two colors coincide and rarely do people know how to pair them. The designers certainly did. Michael Kors Fall Runway 2013 is dominated in the blue/black hues making for incredibly powerful, assertive, business attire. Satchels, purses, side bags and clutches are rocking the two-toned, color-blocking trend this season and the bruised variation is a popular one.
3. Classic Booties
Joie ‘Dalton’ Booties
Just as necessary as jackets are for fall, so too are boots and booties of all shapes, colors and sizes. I am so in love with these suede Joie beige booties. Sometimes a bootie can create an unflattering line between the end of a women’s leg and the start of her foot. These booties solve that issue. Their shape is flattering for every shape and size and elongates a leg rather than stunting it. Plus how chic would those look with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a comfortable knit sweater? Swoon.
4. Jewel Tone Skinnies
MIH Jeans in ‘Breathless Emerald’
Before navy and black made a statement this season, jewel tones were popping up like wildflowers in magazines and online. The classic jewel tones include a variety of shades from emerald to teal, burgundy to maroon, sapphire to navy and everything in between. This year, however, the colors aren’t just found in bags or on blouses. Skinny jeans are transforming from popping spring colors to demure jewel tones. They are the perfect statement pieces to pair neutrals around. These MIH Emerald skinny jeans would go perfectly with shades of brown and tan (even the Joie booties)!
TOPSHOP Tail Leather A – Line Skirt
Leather, yes I know, leather is an oldie but it’s a goody! No, I am not talking about the classic 90’s leather pointed boot or the 2012 black peplum leather top from ASOS that everyone seems to have. I am talking about leather skirts! Don’t think trashy, though, think classy. In order to make a leather skirt classy you have to consider the shape, tailor and outline of it. An A-line leather skirt like this TOPSHOP one is uber chic this season. Consider pairing it with a navy turtleneck or cobalt bow blouse. Add some dark tights and tall boots to keep it casually polished. It may seem like a risk but it should be one you are willing to take.
