If you thought you couldn’t be anymore excited for Fifty Shades of Grey to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day, let me tell you there’s another reason: Red Satin and White Silk. No, these aren’t specialty fabrics you could purchase at your hometown store, but two wines hand crafted by E.L. James herself to compliment the worldwide phenomenon. Continue reading
Baby clothes. My Little Pony. Christmas trees. What do these three things have in common?
Bet you didn’t say Fifty Shades of Grey.
With the fast approaching release of our favorite smutty novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, on the silver screen, the excitement and anticipation for the movie just keeps growing bigger and bigger—and so does the market for some “interesting” unofficial Fifty Shades of Grey inspired products you have to see to believe.
Here are our top 5 personal faves: Continue reading
It’s official, the shoes of the S&M loving billionaire Christian Grey have been filled by Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan! The casting for the film adaptation of the best-selling adult erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey was all set with Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey, the dominating billionaire tortured by his own demons, and Dakota Johnson as the submissive literature student Anastasia Steel, when all of a sudden Charlie Hunnam decided to drop out of film due to “scheduling conflicts.” The search for the new Mr. Grey was on! Fans filled forums, and petitions, with their suggestions for who should bring their fantasies to life on the big screen; throwing out names like Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgaad, as well as a few lesser known actors, including Christian Cooke and Billy Magnussen. There was even a recent report in The Hollywood Reporter that Billy Magnussen and Dornan both read opposite Dakota Johnson in a screen test, in which Dornan came out on top (pun intended)! Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey probably heard last week that Charlie Hunnam walked away from the role of Christian Grey, which has restarted talk about who should play the sensational character. While many fans are throwing some big names around, rumors of some smaller names have surfaced.Do you remember Sheriff Graham/The Huntsman from Once Upon A Time? The 31-year-old Northern Irish actor has auditioned for the role. You may have also caught him on BBC Two’s The Fall with Gillian Anderson this summer. He hasn’t had too many roles, so we haven’t seen too much of him, but I think he’s rather handsome and wouldn’t say no to seeing a bit more of him.
You might recognize 27-year-old Scott Eastwood’s last name; he gets it from Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood, his father. While he started his acting career in his father’s movie, Gran Torino, I’m going to guess that if you watch Chicago Fire, you noticed him playing Officer Jim Barnes and are looking forward to seeing him more in the spin-off Chicago PD when it starts as a mid-season replacement in January. Is a role as one of Chicago’s finest enough of him though?
At 26, Christian Cooke is the youngest of those who have reportedly auditioned and is pretty unknown to American audiences, despite a fuller career than the gentlemen mentioned above. He can be seen as Mercutio in the latest film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, but our British readers can probably tell us more about him based on the several seasons he spent on the TV series Where the Heart Is. Perhaps his piercing blue eyes should be the ones taunting Fifty Shades fans from the movie posters!
I don’t know that I could really object to any of them, but if you were the casting director, which of these three are you calling back?
Wanted: WM, 20-35, great ABS and prepared to do a lot of nakedness. Must provide own handcuffs. Can smolder on cue.
At least I’m assuming that’s what the frantic casting call looks like after Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation over the weekend. And with Charlie’s exit went my interest in this movie, but there are plenty more out there who can’t wait to hear who’ll be taking on the role of Christian Grey for the upcoming film. “Are you kidding? Is he serious?? How dare he say that?!” I know, it’s a pretty bold title, but just wait a sec…since the wheels have officially started to roll on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie with the recent casting of Dakota Johnson (The Social Network, 21 Jump Street) and Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim, Sons of Anarchy) as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the long-awaited film adaptation of the erotic novel by E.L. James, there’s been backlash. Like a lot backlash – to the point of an online petition rallying against the lead actors, demanding the filmmakers change the roles, preferably to the much-chatted about Matthew Bomer (Magic Mike, White Collar) and Alexis Bledel (Mad Men, Gilmore Girls). But like the recent casting of Ben Affleck as Batman, naturally there is going to be an outcry among fans when a certain actor or actress takes on a coveted fictional character within pop culture. So, also like the recent casting of Ben Affleck as Batman, let’s take a second to step back and look at the upcoming adaptation and five reasons Fifty Shades of Grey could work. Continue reading
The global phenomenon that has become the fastest-selling book series ever, Fifty Shades of Grey by English author E.L. James, is now coming to the big screen. Universal Pictures and Focus Features announced that the adult novel will be adapted for the screen and released on August 1, 2014. Sam Talyor-Johnson, the London born director of the critically acclaimed film Nowhere Boy, about the early years of John Lennon, is going to be directing. The book will be adapted into a screenplay by Kelly Marcel, and Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and the book’s author, E.L. James, are going to be producers. Continue reading
There is still no confirmation on who will take the coveted, sexually dominating role of Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation, so it will be a few more nail-biting weeks of anticipation before we hear official casting news, but in the mean time the list of contenders is getting hotter and hotter each day.
From Ryan Gosling to Alexander Skarsgard, we have all been drooling in anticipation and lucky for us they really just upped the ante.
Chris Hemsworth has not caught only our eyes in his upcoming film Rush but of producers as well. He is a top-runner and a hot commodity in polls as a favorite to play main character. His name was floating around rumors earlier this year, but the buzz about him is in an absolute frenzy just recently. When asked if he would be interested in playing the role Hemsworth said he was, “unsure.” So we will just have to let read the book and decide for himself. Lets pray he is a fast reader.
Some aren’t sure if his buff, muscular physique will suit Christian Grey’s character, but we beg to differ. Anyone could slim down for this role of a lifetime.
But someone else has recently broke into the polls, Hugh Dancy. He stars as special agent Will Graham in NBC‘s new crime thriller Hannibal and is also married to Claire Danes. He is a lesser known actor actor on this side of the pond, but has a large following in the UK and is creating quite a buzz as the latest fan-favorite.
Dancy brings a whole different look to the table, although much older than the character in the book his sex appeal is more than enough to make an entire audience of women swoon.
While we have had countless dreams of other hunky actors laying the scandalous role, I don’t think any of us would be too upset about either one of these men taking over.
Rumors have been swirling for months about who will take the coveted spot as director for the upcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James, but it seems Gus Van Sant is pushing to surpass his competition. Sources say that Gus Van Sant, director most notably of Good Will Hunting and Milk, recruited Magic Mike star Alex Pettyfer, one of many fan favorites for the role of Christian Grey, to shoot a test scene for the movie!
As Fifty Shades of Grey fans become more and more frustrated with the lack of information and updates on the film adaptation of the book, it looks like interest is beginning to shift to other steamy written works out there such as, the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. Bared to You, Reflected in You, and the upcoming third installment Entwined With You (releasing May 7, 2013), have been known to be a good replacement for those who are having “Fifty Shades of Grey withdrawals. Even though the Crossfire series bares a similar style, not to mention a few similar circumstances to Fifty Shades of Grey, it has its own unique twist that has the women pining over the charming Gideon Cross. Since E.L. James’ best-selling novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” hit the bookshelves in June of 2011, rumors of a film adaption began to stir. After nearly a year of deliberation on whether or not it was possible for a film to suit the erotic genre of the popular novel, all the rumors were finally put to rest. On March 26, 2012, Focus Features and Universal Pictures announced that they had bought the rights to the film adaption of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” setting fans and fan sites in a frenzy. Even though many had their ideal Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele already in mind, knowing that casting could soon be decided took the world and the fandom by storm. Continue reading
The Poll is now closed. Thank you for voting!
EL James describes Christian Grey as tall and muscular with “overwhelming good looks,” “unruly dark copper-colored hair,” and “intense, bright gray eyes.” He is twenty seven, but looks younger and has an air of sophistication and authority about him. Add that all together and you probably have an image of your ideal male specimen floating around in your mind that no one actor could ever completely embody… but lots of hollywood’s finest are eager to try. Multiple news outlets began reporting this afternoon that Ian Somerhalder will be meeting with the producers of Fifty Shades of Grey after tweets from fans claiming he had confirmed the news. The supposed confirmation took place today, August 19, 2012, at The Vampire Diaries Convention in New Jersey. After being asked about the part, Somerhalder reportedly replied that he would be meeting with the producers of the film next week in Los Angeles. Fans then shared this information on twitter starting a fire storm of speculation. But is it true? Continue reading
Well, this will be quite hard to limit down to five reasons, as I am sure everyone who has read the books will agree…
1. I can not wait to see how the story will unravel on the big screen, to see how exact the movie is to the book. It is such a let down to me when they take away scenes that you were dying to see or they change scenes to be different from the book. I’m really hoping this stays as true to the book as film and an R-rating will allow. Continue reading
